Wesley Charlton

Wesley Charlton (BFA, The Ohio State University Department of Dance, 2015) grew up in Lorain, Ohio. Expressing interest in the performing arts from a young age, he joined his first dance team his freshman year of high school realizing that choreographing and performing was something he loved to do. He was a member of the school’s hip hop dance team all four years and was elected as co-captain his senior year. He began his dance training in forms such as jazz and hip-hop his junior year of high school and continued learning about other dance forms such as ballet and tap throughout his high school career. While studying at OSU he has performed in works choreographed by Rodney Brown, Dianne McIntyre, and Tine Salling. He has studied under Susan Hadley, Abby Zbikowski, Karen Eliot, Rodney Brown, and Tine Salling. He has gained teaching experience from his work as a contemporary and hip hop instructor at ML Dance Academy in Pickerington, OH and has also taught multiple workshops in the Columbus and Lorain areas. He plans on teaching more workshops and gaining more experience through a group he is a part of on campus called B.O.A.T. Dance Collective which is an organization where students and people around Columbus can come and teach their own workshops as well as take class from professionals in the industry. He has also gained choreographing experience from creating dances for his team’s performances and showcases throughout high school as well as choreographing for hip hop dance teams on campus, Dance Linx and 3D Urban Dance Team. He has choreographed work for C Dance Company as well. Future plans include moving to Los Angeles where he will continue to train and perform in multiple dance forms to become a more versatile artist.
